Community Action of Skagit County Reports Midyear Progress on Anacortes Resource Center Services

The Anacortis Resource Center, operated by Community Action of Skagit County, provided a midyear update on its services. The center has increased its services over the past three and a half years, serving 152 people year-to-date as of the end of May, with a growing number of participants in education and employment programs. Significant increases were noted in energy and utility assistance, partly due to increased funding from Puget Sound Energy and improved accessibility with a local office. The center also provides volunteer services for seniors and disabled individuals, including food boxes. A new 'whole family approach' pilot program aims to support families in achieving long-term economic mobility by co-designing services with them. The organization is seeking partnerships for this pilot and for work site placements for employment program participants. They are also developing an Anacortis-specific services page on their website and a data page. Carson Hansen has joined as the new Community Engagement Director.
