Thayer also attended a Downtown Business Association (DBA) meeting, which included discussions on an upcoming run, changes to the rail corridor, and increased partnerships with various organizations, which she views positively.

Bemidji City Council Approves Numerous Community and Infrastructure Items

The Bemidji City Council approved various items under Consent Agenda number one, including claims, financial reports, business license approvals, vehicle disposal, grant approvals, concrete projects, services from a garden center, change orders for street renewal and soil remediation projects, and several special event permits. These include permits for the Dragon Boat Festival, Bemidji Dragon Boat 5K, and Ojibwe Forest Rally Street Race. Additionally, resolutions were approved for appointing election judges, accepting library donations, approving site and alcohol for the Dragon Boat Festival, and granting temporary liquor licenses for the Dragon Boat Festival and Bemidji Downtown Alliance. Council travel authorization for the CGMC Sovereign Conference was also approved.

Bemidji City Council Welcomes New Fire Department Members

The Bemidji City Council held a swearing-in ceremony for two new members of the Bemidji Fire Department, Chris Lowell and Joe Lopes. Chief Sherwood and Michelle presided over the ceremony, emphasizing the family-like nature of the fire service. Families of the new members were present and participated in a photo opportunity. The council thanked the new members for their dedication.
