PFOA Contamination Concerns Prompt Increased Testing and Public Awareness
A significant discussion took place regarding PFOA contamination in town and its impact on water resources. The town is collaborating with state and federal agencies to test wells and soil, especially in North Pownal, due to PFOA being an emergent contaminant. The state will conduct follow-up testing in August. The town is also promoting free or reduced-cost soil and water testing offered by the Bennington County Conservation District.
Fire Warden Position Realigned with Deputies Appointed

The fire department is responsible for matching funds, but the town handles all accounting due to being the holder of the money. A process for immediate reimbursement has been established.
Local Emergency Management Plan Approved
The town discussed and approved its Local Emergency Management Plan. Minor corrections were made by Julie, including updating contact information for select board members and adopting the current year's form. The plan is essential for the town's emergency preparedness.
