Final Change Order for Spring Street Sidewalk Project Results in Net Cost Reduction

The city council considered and approved a final adjusting change order for the Cookeville Sidewalk Spring Street project, Phase Two. This project was funded by local programs and T-dot. The change order was recommended by the CEI consultant for overruns in pavement removal, sidewalk, stone, and asphalt, balanced by underruns in other areas. The net result was a deduct of $30,789.43 from the original contract amount of $913,582.65, bringing the final contract price down. The city's match is 5% of the project cost. The council approved this adjustment.

The city council considered the final balance for the Henley Drive street extension project. The project was completed 52 days ahead of schedule, in 98 days instead of the original 150-day contract. Additional work included striping the entirety of Henley Drive and adding riprap to an adjacent ditch, which were not in the original contract. These additions resulted in a final contract price of $547,500.20, which was a net deduct from the original amount due to the early completion. The council approved this final change order.

The consent agenda included several purchase approvals. Item 6A was approval to purchase one side load sanitation truck using Sourcewell contract ID 110223. Item 6B was approval to purchase one front load sanitation truck using Sourcewell contract ID 110223-032824. Item 6C was approval to purchase one dumpster truck using Sourcewell contract ID 032824 MAK. Item 6D was to declare equipment as surplus. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Vice Mayor Aldridge and seconded by Councilman Walker. The consent agenda passed with a unanimous vote of five 'yes'.
