Crossville Council Approves Referendum on Water Asset Transfer to CPWA, Delays Dam Expansion

The City Council of Crossville discussed and ultimately voted to send a referendum to voters regarding the potential transfer of city water and sewer utility assets to the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority (CPWA). This referendum will ask voters if the city council should be authorized to transfer specific properties, including those at Meadow Park Lake (dam and water treatment plant areas), and other water and sewer system properties throughout Cumberland County, to the CPWA, should the council later deem it in the city's best interest. The council also voted to delay a decision on the Meadow Park Lake dam expansion for at least one year, acknowledging that the city cannot afford the expansion alone and that further discussions with CPWA are needed.
