Open Container Law Suspended for July 4th Celebrations in Designated Park Areas
The city council considered and approved a motion to suspend the open container law for specific areas during Fourth of July celebrations. Initially, the suspension was proposed for the urban park and pavilion at 11 North Parkerson, and the Tony Rob sports complex at 717 West Mill Street, including a two-block radius around the urban park. Following discussion and concerns about enforcement and potential safety issues from expanded areas, a substitute motion was made and approved to limit the suspension solely to the premises of the urban park and pavilion and the Tony Rob sports complex, excluding the two-block radius.
