Elderly and Disabled Property Tax Exemption Program Updated, Income Limit Raised to $45,000
The council considered an ordinance amending Article 5 of Chapter 37, concerning Real Estate and Mobile Home Tax Exemption and Deferral for Certain Elderly and Disabled Persons. The amendment allows for revisions to the program. Councilman Campbell sought clarification on 'certain elderly,' and it was explained that the program is income-based, with income limits having increased over recent years. The maximum household income limit is now $45,000, with other criteria such as financial assets also applying. Applications are accepted through the end of September.
