City of Deer Park Achieves Favorable Results on Certificate of Obligation Sale

The City of Deer Park successfully sold Certificate of Obligation Series 2026 bonds, raising $6,920,000. Investors paid a premium of $395,000. After expenses of $155,000, the city will receive $7,159,500 on August 4th. The actual interest rate achieved was 4.049%, significantly better than the estimated 4.50%, resulting in an approximate interest cost reduction of $419,000. The final debt service requirements over a 25-year period, including the new bonds, total $10,497,417.

Drainage Improvements Project for College Park Subdivision Underway

An update was provided on the College Park Subdivision Drainage Improvements Project, a partnership between the Harris County Flood Control District, the City of Deer Park, and Harris County Precinct 2. The project aims to reduce flood risk in the College Park subdivision by lowering peak water surface elevations in streets and neighborhoods during storm events. The design includes upsizing storm sewers and stormwater detention to manage 100-year rainfall events. Final design plans are underway, with 50% completion expected by Q4 2026. Right-of-way acquisition, environmental investigations, and permitting are complete. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in early 2028.
