They also noted a prior incident where a branch fell on a parked car.
July 4th Fireworks Rescheduled for Labor Day Weekend
The Mayor addressed the cancellation and rescheduling of the July 4th fireworks celebration due to high risk of rain and damaging winds. The event has been rescheduled for the weekend of Labor Day, with Saturday, September 5th as the date and September 6th as the rain date. This decision was made to ensure a good turnout from East Brunswick residents, especially since the school year will begin before Labor Day, ensuring more residents are back in town.
Ice Rink Offered as Alternative Indoor Walking Space
Responding to resident concerns about the lack of indoor walking space due to mall renovations, the Mayor suggested using the East Brunswick ice rink and mezzanine area as an alternative. He noted that one lap around both rinks and the mezzanine is one-third of a mile, and completing three laps (one mile) burns about 105 calories. This facility is open in the mornings and is free for public use, providing a similar exercise opportunity to the indoor mall.
Positive Impressions from Brela Complex Tour
Councilman Wendell reported on a recent tour of the Brela Complex, noting that a significant portion is open for occupancy. He spoke with three couples who had recently moved in and expressed excitement. He also found it interesting that a family chose a two-bedroom apartment to allow for visits from the daughter residing in the complex. He was impressed by the architecturally appealing front of the complex, the mature landscaping, and the overall eye-appealing appearance when entering from Route 18. The tour lasted about an hour and a half, and he and his colleagues were thoroughly impressed.
