Edgewood City Council Votes to Formalize Interview Process, Adhering to Bylaws
Council Member Keith motioned that all future interviews for city advisory bodies conform to bylaw 6.3, requiring them to be conducted in a committee of the whole format, with the Deputy Mayor chairing that portion. The motion was seconded by Council Member Keith. Proponents argued this adheres to bylaws, prevents violations, and allows the council to learn effective governance tools. Opponents noted that current practice has been similar and questioned the need for change, while also expressing concern about the Deputy Mayor chairing rather than the Mayor. The motion passed with a 4-3 vote (Aye: Keith, Ramirez, Rasmus; Nay: Olson, Creely, Paseruski). The council also acknowledged that the bylaws might need revision.
Edgewood Council Discusses July 3rd Event Success and Future Planning
