Consent Agenda Approvals Include Police Lot Paving and Sprinkler System Repayment

The high cost of training new officers, who may leave within their first year, further exacerbates the problem. The proposed retirement plan changes are seen as a strategy to retain seasoned officers, build experience in younger staff, and improve the department's overall capacity and leadership pipeline.
City Council Sets FY27 Municipal Tax Rate at 0.5550
The City Council approved the FY27 municipal tax rate and tax due dates. The municipal tax rate was set at 0.5550, reflecting a growth of 1.562% in the grand list, which lowered the tax rate from the previous year's 3.3. The due dates for installments were set as August 18th, 2026, November 16th, 2026, and March 15th, 2027. The council also received information on the 2026 grand list and acknowledged that the education tax rate, set by the state, was still pending.
