Excelsior Springs City Council Approves Board and Commission Appointments

City of Excelsior Springs Approves Insurance Renewal, Secures Over $123,000 in Savings
The City Council approved Resolution 1668 concerning the renewal of property and liability insurance for the city. Two options were presented: maintaining coverage with MoPerm Travelers or moving property insurance to Chubb, which offered a savings of $145,000 but reduced flood coverage, requiring an additional Lloyds of London policy. Staff recommended moving to Chubb, resulting in an overall savings of over $123,000, with a total insurance cost increase of 3.3% over the previous year.
Excelsior Springs Fire Department to Upgrade Software with First Due System
The City Council approved an agreement with First Due for software and related services for the fire department. This transition from a current reporting system with customer service issues to a more user-friendly system will cost $26,995 for the first year, funded by the public safety sales tax. The new software will also allow members to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for relicensing.
Excelsior Springs Finance Department Reports May 2026 Financials: Over $1.9M in Appropriations and $2.3M in Revenue
The Finance Director presented the May 2026 monthly review report, detailing appropriations and revenues for the month. Total appropriations amounted to $1,948,150.91, including significant payments for the Hall of Waters steam track replacement and a developer payment for 'The Elms' project. Total revenue received for May 2026 was $2,327,488.54.
July Declared Park and Recreation Month in Excelsior Springs
The City Council recognized July as Park and Recreation Month. The proclamation highlighted the integral role of parks and recreation in promoting health and wellness, encouraging physical activity, supporting childhood development, boosting economic prosperity, and contributing to environmental well-being and community resilience.
