Buoie Nature Park Enhances Storybook Trail, Camps, and Seeks Sponsorships

Rezoning Request Deferred Due to Applicant's Unawareness of Planning Commission Meeting
Mr. Jesse McCannernney, representing WY Circle Investments and Phoenix Development, requested a deferral for the WY Circle Reszoning (Rezoning 00005) due to not meeting with the planning commission and being unaware of their meeting. The request was for a deferral and re-referral back to the planning commission. The board agreed to defer the item, saving the planning staff time on their report and allowing for further discussion with the planning commission.
New City Planner Austin Brown Hired to Strengthen Planning Department
The City Manager announced the hiring of Austin Brown as the new City Planner. Brown previously served as the Hickman County Director of Planning and will begin his role with the city on July 27th. The city is optimistic that his experience will bring stability and direction to the planning department. The City Manager also expressed gratitude to the planning department for their work and to all staff involved in the July 3rd celebration.
Planning Department Reports on Permits, Project Reviews, and Development Code Update
The Planning Department report indicated that 38 single-family homes, zero townhomes, and two multi-family homes were permitted in 2026. The department reviewed 87 projects. The Fairview Development Code was passed and took effect on April 2nd, 2026. Two staff members, Ethan Greer (now on the planning commission) and Devon Hallebertton (in codes enforcement), have moved to new roles or departments. Upcoming meetings for the planning commission and board of zoning appeals were announced.
