Free Child Car Seat Clinic and Vehicle Inspection Scheduled for July 14th

A free child car seat clinic and vehicle inspection event will be held on July 14th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fitchburg Fire Station #1 (5791 Lacey Road). Pre-registration is required by July 13th via text or phone call to Safe Kids Wisconsin (safekids@uwhealth.org or 608-333-6087). The event, in partnership with multiple organizations, offers free car seats for registered participants, vehicle inspections, child seat installation and inspection by trained technicians, information on child passenger safety, connections to resources, and children's activities. City Hall and Services Closed for Independence Day; Fireworks Ban in Parks; Reduced Metro Transit Service

Fitchburg City Hall, Community Center, Senior Center, and Public Library will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, observing Independence Day. Normal business hours resume on Monday at 8:00 a.m. Fireworks are prohibited in city parks due to safety risks to people, wildlife, park facilities, and natural habitats. Residents are encouraged to attend professional displays instead. Any fireworks that go up or make sound are illegal in Fitchburg parks and the city. Additionally, Metro Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule for Saturday, July 4th, with specific routes available (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, L, O, P, R, and S).
