Anchor Resource Center to Provide Comprehensive Services for Homeless Individuals in Fort Wayne

The Anchor Resource Center (ARC) is a new initiative aimed at addressing the gap in services for homeless individuals in Fort Wayne. The center will be located downtown and will provide a low-barrier shelter environment with access to resources for housing. The project is a collaborative effort involving the city, philanthropic foundations, and various social service agencies. Foundations have committed to funding the operational costs for the first three years, allowing the center to establish itself and work towards financial self-sufficiency. The ARC will offer services such as case management, mail access, secure storage, showers, laundry facilities, and potentially temperature-controlled medication storage. It will also co-locate representatives from social service agencies and potentially law enforcement to provide comprehensive support in one accessible location. The goal is to provide acute intervention to prevent chronic homelessness and offer dignity and empathy to individuals experiencing homelessness.
