Fountain Police Department Welcomes Two New Employees
The council welcomed two new employees to the Fountain Police Department: Mark James, who brings two years of experience from a local sheriff's department and a stint in a neighboring county's municipal agency, and Jesse Boyce, who is rejoining the team after a brief period outside of law enforcement. Both individuals were formally introduced to the Mayor and Council.
July Parks and Recreation Month Activities and Upcoming Arts Events
In celebration of Parks and Recreation Month, the city is hosting various events, including a STEAM camp, a game night, and two '55 Plus' night outs at local restaurants. The Yan Center for Performing Arts will feature 'Boot Scoot and Boogie' from August 7th-16th, and the Fountain and Museum's 'Fountain and Cooks' exhibit runs until August 22nd.
Wall and Jones Street Parking Lot Upgrades Complete; PD Terry City Park Improvements Underway
Stormwater and sewer upgrades for the Wall and Jones Street parking lot are complete, with most curb installation finished. Substantial completion of the parking lot is anticipated by the end of August, weather permitting. Additionally, phase one of the PD Terry City Park improvements, including the removal of existing tennis courts, fencing, and lighting, is underway, with the final design proposing four pickleball courts and two tennis courts.
City Council Honors Late Planning Commission Member Mark Peace
The City Council issued a proclamation honoring the late Mark Peace, a respected member of the planning commission who represented Ward Five. Peace was instrumental in the adoption of the unified development ordinance and was known for his integrity, careful consideration, and dedication to making Fountain a vibrant community. Fountain Police Department Donates Over $24,000 to Little White House from Superhero 5K Proceeds
The Fountain Police Department presented a check for over $24,000 to the Little White House, which supports children, young adults, and families affected by autism and other developmental disabilities. This donation represents the proceeds from the seventh annual superhero 5K event held in April, which has been a beneficial program since its start in 2019. The Little White House utilizes these funds for educational programs, therapeutic programs, family support, and community resources to help individuals reach their full potential.
