Alfred Banesh and Company Selected for L Well Elementary Safe Routes to School Project Design
The town council approved a professional services agreement with Alfred Banesh and Company for design services for the L Well Elementary Safe Routes to School project. The project aims to enhance safety for children walking or biking to school, including those with disabilities, by constructing a signalized pedestrian crossing near Silver Bell Drive and Colorado Boulevard. The town received a $368,953 infrastructure grant, contributing $92,238 as a local match, for a total project cost of $461,191. Alfred Banesh and Company was selected from seven proposals based on their high overall score and will be compensated $117,183.72 for their design services. Design is expected to begin in August 2026 and conclude by August 2027.
Waste Connections Agreement Extended for Five Years, Trash Rates to Increase
The Town Council approved a first amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Waste Connections of Colorado, Inc. to extend their waste and recycling services for another five years. The original agreement expires September 1st. Waste Connections has provided competitive rates and good service. The amendment includes a rate increase cap of no more than 3% per year and addresses a new state-mandated solid waste user fee. For the first year of the extension, Waste Connections will not charge this fee. The proposed monthly rate for trash service will increase from $14.50 to approximately $15.00, with a recommended increase to $18.50 per month starting in January to cover costs. Councilmember Morris suggested better communication from Waste Connections regarding recycling program guidelines.
