City Council Approves Two Annexations for Residential Properties
The City Council considered and approved the annexation of two properties into the city. The first annexation, at 4951 Oakidge Road, was approved via Ordinance 2975. The second annexation, for approximately 4 acres at 16676 Babson Place, was approved via Ordinance 2976. Both properties were previously under Clackamas County's jurisdiction and will be zoned R15 and R75 low-density residential, respectively, upon annexation. Both annexations were deemed timely with regards to public facilities and within the urban services boundary.
City Council Discusses Criteria for New Library Site Selection and Existing Site Reuse
The City Council engaged in a study session to define criteria for selecting a new library site and for the reuse of the existing library site. The existing library faces significant structural, seismic, and accessibility issues, necessitating a replacement. A new facility is estimated to require 2.5 to 3.5 acres, and the city is exploring urban renewal funding. For the existing site, the council is prioritizing revenue generation but remains open to options that provide community value. The process will involve community task forces and is expected to span several years.
