Lawrenceville Proposes FY2027 Millage Rate of 3.26 Mills, Maintaining Current Rate

The City of Lawrenceville held a public hearing for its fiscal year 2027 millage rate. The proposed rate is 3.26 mills, which is the same as the previous three years. This rate is 0.326 mills above the rollback rate. Property tax revenue for 2027 is projected to be $7,592,000, an increase of $501,000 over actuals. This revenue will fund services including police, real-time crime center, road and sidewalk maintenance, parks, art projects, ADA transitions, and inflationary increases. The city's combined county and city millage rate is the lowest among full-service cities in Gwinnett County. The proposed millage rate on a $350,000 average home, without homestead exemption, would be $456, accounting for 9.25% of the total tax bill. For homes with homestead exemptions, the maximum increase is limited to 2.6% due to the floating homestead exemption and the state's inflationary rate. Business properties, which do not have homestead exemptions, are expected to see a higher tax increase primarily due to increased property values. The city has two more public hearings scheduled for July 27th before the adoption of the millage rate.
