City Council Approves $15 Million in Certificates of Obligation with 3.91% Interest Rate
The City Council unanimously approved the issuance of Series 2026 Certificates of Obligation, not to exceed $15 million. The finance team and bond council presented the results of a competitive sale where the Baker Group won the bid with an interest rate of 3.91%. This rate is lower than projected, resulting in an estimated increase to the tax rate of approximately 6.8 cents per $100 of property value, down from an initial projection of over 7 cents. The sale generated a premium of $701,000, which will cover issuance costs, ensuring the full $15 million is available for construction projects. The bonds are callable beginning in August 2035.
