City Council Approves 180-Day Moratorium on Data Centers to Develop Regulations
The City Council discussed and approved a 180-day moratorium on data centers to allow for the development of new regulations and code amendments. The moratorium is intended to provide time for the establishment of clear guidelines for the creation and placement of data centers within the city, as well as to address surrounding regulations. A public hearing was held to gather comments on the moratorium, with further public engagement planned through an open house and future discussions before the ordinance is presented to the planning commission and then the council for final adoption. The city is also working on rate adjustment proposals and land development code amendments related to data centers.
