New Fire Station to Go Out for Bids
Permission was granted to bid the new fire station located at 191 East Queenwood Road. Bids are scheduled to go out on Monday, July 21st, with bid opening on Tuesday, August 11th. The review of bids and potential approval are expected at the board meeting on August 17th. 95% plans will be available for review at the office starting tomorrow.
Loan Application Approved for Wastewater Project
Resolution 08-27 was approved, authorizing loan application documents for the water pollution control loan program for a wastewater project. The loan is for 20 years at 2.16% interest. Bids for the project are out this week with an opening on August 11th, the same day as the fire station bid opening. All necessary loan documentation must be finalized by the end of July.
Water Tower Lease Amendment Approved for Verizon Tower
An ordinance authorizing the fourth amendment to the water tower lease was approved. This amendment clarifies the renewal terms for the Verizon Tower on Detroit Avenue, correcting a contradiction in the previous agreement. The amendment aligns the rental increases and escalation breakdown with four five-year renewal terms, instead of the three stated in the prior agreement.
Agreement Approved for Additional Transcription Minutes with Axon
Resolution 07-27 was approved, authorizing an agreement with Axon Enterprises Incorporated for additional automatic transcription minutes. This is an add-on to an existing 10-year contract due to increased usage of transcription minutes, largely driven by Freedom of Information Act requests related to body camera and in-car video. The cost for an additional 97 months will be $1,282.92 this year, with subsequent costs blended into the existing contract. These minutes serve as a buffer to ensure sensitive information, particularly involving juveniles, is not inadvertently released.
New CAT Skid Steer Purchased for Street Department
The council approved waving formal bidding and accepting a proposal from Alorer Incorporated for a new 2026 CAT XPS skid steer for the street department, costing $48,87.90. This price includes the trade-in of the existing 2024 CAT skid steer for $55,000. The purchase utilizes a Sourcewell government purchasing program discount, and the new skid steer will have a three-year guaranteed buyback option for $50,000 at 1,000 hours.
