Malvern City Council Approves Liquor License Increase and Street Closure for Ashbash Festival
The Malvern City Council approved the second reading of an ordinance to increase the number of event center liquor licenses, specifically for 'Meet Me on Main'. The council also approved a street closure request for 9th Street from Jordan Street to Casey Avenue, and from Broadway Street to Jordan Street, for the Ashbash festival from August 13th to August 16th, 2026.
Malvern City Council Approves Police Department Server, Emergency Sirens, and New Parking Lot
The Malvern City Council approved accepting a quote from Synergy for a replacement system server for the police department's surveillance camera system. Synergy's bid of $61,127.50 was the lowest of three bids and within the budgeted amount of $62,000. The council also approved waiving bidding and accepting a quote from Federal Systems for outdoor emergency siren equipment and installation services for $53,737.10, as Brandon Communications is the sole authorized seller in the region. Additionally, the council approved seeking bids for the construction of a new parking lot across 27th Street from the police department, with a budget of $80,000.
Malvern City Council Authorizes Grant Application for Etruscan Park Improvements
The Malvern City Council approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for an Open Space Land Acquisition and Development Grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The grant funding will be used for a development project at Etruscan Park, involving the demolition of the existing inline skate area and the installation of two regulated-size basketball courts and a skate park. The maximum grant amount that can be applied for is $600,000. The application deadline is August 31st, and awards are expected to be announced by January 2nd, 2027.
Malvern City Council Approves Accounts Payable and Collective Bargaining Agreement
