The police department is busy with recruitment and has awarded the Timothy Bow Memorial Award to Chief Tim Hoyt for his exceptional professionalism and dedication. Chief Hoyt, who also works part-time for Metro Transit Police, was recognized for his outstanding service. The department is also conducting interviews for patrol and community service officer positions, with candidates moving to the background check phase. In terms of activity, the police responded to 436 incidents between June 18th and 24th, which is consistent with historical data for this period. A notable traffic stop resulted in an arrest for DWI, where the driver was found to be significantly over the legal blood alcohol limit and traveling at excessive speeds. Officer Anthony Larson was commended for his diligent traffic safety enforcement.

The city has also purchased the property at 5427 Zylon and has notified residents within 500 feet of the development. Finally, the home at 7205 62nd Avenue is nearing completion with interior finishes being added, preparing it for sale.
Water Meter Replacement Nears Completion, Saving Over $1 Million; Public Works Addresses Stormwater and Infrastructure Repairs
The city is nearing the completion of a water meter replacement project, having installed 4,565 meters and with only 930 meters remaining. This in-house work by Public Works is projected to save the city over one million dollars. Residents with remaining meters are urged to contact Public Works to schedule their replacement. Public Works has also been busy with other essential tasks, including cleaning and repairing catch basins after recent rain events, conducting stormwater outfall inspections, repairing a water main break on 40 1/2 Avenue, and performing playground inspections.
