North Platte Council Amends Ordinance to Prohibit Standing on All City Medians
The City Council considered Ordinance 4252 on first reading, which adds Section 74.05 to Chapter 74 of the Traffic Code, titled 'Pedestrian Safety Use of Medians.' The ordinance aims to prohibit pedestrians from standing, sitting, or staying on medians for any purpose other than lawfully crossing the street. Initially, the ordinance listed specific highway intersections (Highway 83, Highway 30, and Newberry Access intersections) where this prohibition would apply. North Platte Council Authorizes RFP for New Police Station Design Services

North Platte Council Approves Completion of Echo Drive Sewer Project; Sets New Date for Benefit Equalization
The City Council accepted the certificate of completion for sanitary sewer connection district number 22, located on Echo Drive. The project involved installing an 18-inch sewer line from Echo and Fremont Slough north on Echo to Buffalo Bill Avenue. The district was established as a connection district, meaning costs are incurred only upon connection, not immediate assessment. The board of equalization for benefits was initially set for July 21, 2026, but was amended to August 4, 2026, to align with the first council meeting in August. The project, approximately a million-dollar undertaking, was awarded to Bankirk in February 2025 and completed in the fall of 2025. Three existing connections were reconnected at no cost. Discussion also touched upon financing methods (bonding vs. cash) and the potential for future fee structures based on connection timing.
Legends 2nd Subdivision Gains Preliminary and Final Approval in North Platte
The City Council adopted a recommendation from the City Planning Commission for preliminary and final approval of Legends 2nd Subdivision, located at 4714 West State Farm Road in an R-L suburban residential district. This subdivision represents the second half of a larger plan initiated several years ago, adding 14 new lots. The subdivision features two-acre lots and private drives.
