The ordinance addresses the surge in electric bikes, e-scooters, and similar devices. Key provisions include defining different classes of electric bicycles, restricting high-speed electric bicycles (Class 3) from trails and sidewalks, implementing a parental responsibility clause for users under 14, and designating infractions as municipal rather than courthouse matters. The ordinance also clarifies that bicycles are permitted in city parks. After discussion, the council amended the ordinance to set a minimum age of 12 for operating motorized conveyances on public property.
Assistant Police Chief Kirk Westbold Honored for 33 Years of Service
The council recognized the distinguished career and retirement of Assistant Police Chief Kirk Westbold after nearly 33 years of service. The proclamation highlighted his long tenure, professional conduct, leadership in technology initiatives, contributions to cybersecurity and building security, his role in establishing the annual bike safety day, and his service as officer in charge during a leadership transition. He retired on July 1st, 2026.
Golf Course Rezoning Initiated for Residential Development
