Palm Desert Library Project Procurement Delayed for Due Diligence, Council to Review Delivery Options
The Palm Desert City Council received an update on the new library facility project and the progressive design-build procurement process. Due to the need for additional due diligence to ensure the selection of the best long-term partner, the award recommendation has been shifted from July to September. The council will have an August study session to discuss project delivery options, including potential design changes, scope alternatives, cost containment strategies, and value engineering, before a final award recommendation is made in September. The demolition of the existing Park View building is complete, and the site is ready for the next phase. The project budget was established in 2025 at approximately $30 million.
