Community Garden Initiative Launched to Promote Healthy Living in Pearl

The initiative 'Healthy Me' aims to counter the perception of Mississippi as an unhealthy state by promoting healthy living through community gardens and other programs. A pilot community garden is being established with the city and Rankin County to provide fresh organic vegetables, involving children in the planting and maintenance process. This effort is supported by various volunteers, including college students, high school Key Club members, contract workers, and church groups, such as Mfuge from the Southern Baptist Convention. These volunteer groups contribute by assisting with arts and crafts, games, and Bible lessons, providing significant relief to the core staff and enhancing the program's holistic approach. The initiative operates on faith, trusting divine provision through people, and has already shown positive changes in Pearl by fostering a prayer, care, and share lifestyle.
