Petaluma City Council Approves Design-Build Contract for New Public Safety Facility
The Petaluma City Council is set to award a design-build contract to Alton Construction for a new Public Safety Facility. This project, which has been in development for several years, aims to consolidate a new police headquarters, fire department headquarters, fire station number four, and an emergency operations center into a single campus at the intersection of Kennallworth Drive and Johnson Drive. The project has undergone significant revisions to reduce costs and footprint, with a revised construction cost target of $55 million and a completion date of 2028. The contract award to Alton Construction is for $51,573,911, which is below the $55 million threshold, allowing for the inclusion of add-alternates like additional ballistic protection and daylighting devices. This project is considered a generational investment for the city's public safety infrastructure.
Petaluma Council Discusses Vision for North Petaluma Smart Station Specific Plan
The City Council engaged in a workshop to discuss the North Petaluma Smart Station Priority Development Area Specific Plan. The plan aims to create a resilient, connected, and vibrant district with housing, jobs, and recreation, centered around transit and nature. Key areas of focus include the Transit Village near the station, the Health District, and the North McDowell corridor.
