Pocatello Approves $108K Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation Project

Pocatello Approves $1.3M Well Project for Golf Course Irrigation
The council approved accepting a bid and awarding a contract to Star Corporation for the Well Number 17 Project. The bid amount is $1,315,000. The project involves the rehabilitation of a formerly used well from the 1960s, intended for irrigation purposes for the Highland Golf Course. This will help reduce demand on the culinary system. Funding for this project is included in the water department's fiscal year 2026 budget. Separately, the council also approved Task Order Number 5A, Amendment Number One, with Keller Associates for professional services during the construction of Well 17, amounting to $91,030. This is under an existing on-call engineering services agreement.
Pocatello Renews Senior Transportation Services Contract with ECAP
The council approved a transportation services contract with Eastern Idaho Community Action Partnership (ECAP) for Pocatello Regional Transit's Senior Citizen Public Transportation Program. The contract is effective from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2030. This service provides door-to-door transportation for seniors aged 60 and older at a suggested donation, funded through Title 3B via the Area Agency on Aging. This contract transition from the Southeast Idaho Council of Governments to ECAP allows for the continuation of approximately 12,000 annual trips for seniors. No significant changes are expected for riders, with the shift primarily affecting back-end billing. Seniors can schedule rides by calling the dispatch office the day before, with options for medical appointments. The funding is provided annually up to $57,500, paid per boarding.
Pocatello Establishes America 250 Time Capsule as Legacy Project
The council adopted a resolution establishing the Pocatello America 250 Time Capsule as a legacy project to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. The time capsule was prepared by an ad hoc committee, with former Councilman Rick Cheetum chairing the effort. Due to space limitations, not all submitted items could be included. The ordinance includes a provision for the time capsule to be reviewed by the council every five years until its scheduled opening in 2076, ensuring it remains on the city's radar. The preparation of the time capsule was supported by donations and dedicated individuals.

The council approved a contract with Safeete, Inc. for environmental hazard abatement and interior demolition at 429 Washington Avenue. The total contract amount is $89,500.
