Raymore City Council Reviews Conceptual Design for New Justice Center

The Raymore City Council reviewed the conceptual design for a new justice center. The design process involved city staff and architects from PGAV and MWL Architects, incorporating feedback from two public meetings and surveys. The proposed building aims for efficiency, incorporating features like a flexible multi-use space for courts and training, dedicated areas for records, report taking, and interviews, as well as specialized facilities for patrol officers, evidence storage, and a mobile command post. The design also includes considerations for natural light, operational cost savings, and enhanced security. Several site plan options were presented, differing mainly in public access and building orientation. Key discussions revolved around the dispatch center's location, its hardening for severe weather, the integration of security measures like metal detectors, the layout of interview and holding rooms, and the potential for future expansion. The project is funded in part by a public safety sales tax approved by residents in April 2025 and is a key component of the city's long-range comprehensive plan.
