St. Bernard Village Committee of the Whole Meeting Covers Community Events, Financial Matters, and Infrastructure Updates
The council reviewed and approved the written minutes from the previous meeting held on June 25th. Mayor Stuchel provided updates on recent community events, including the Heritage Hill District event and the Independence Day celebration, thanking participants and staff. He also reminded attendees about the upcoming German Luau Parade and requested to enter executive session for property purchase. The Auditor presented a financial report and proposed an ordinance (Ordinance 34) for a $135,000 transfer to the capital improvement fund for property purchase, plus additional appropriations for repairs and mold restoration. The Safety and Service Director reported on the Tower Avenue and Lower Washington Avenue resurfacing project, including progress on curbs, sidewalks, and waterline work. He also requested Ordinance 35 be placed on the agenda to codify the Heritage Hill District plan. Committee reports included Finance discussing community connect events and thanking departments for the fireworks display, Service recognizing individuals for their work on the July 4th celebration, Public Improvements providing information on the homestead credit, Safety noting no report but echoing thanks for the July 4th event, Lost Contracts and Claims scheduling the next meeting, and Marketing detailing upcoming events like the German Luau, adult night at the Aquatic Center, live pro wrestling, and a historical society meeting. The Marketing Director also moved to enter executive session for property purchase discussion. The council then moved into executive session and subsequently exited it, placing Ordinance 33 on the table for the next meeting before adjourning.
