John Weiss has agreed to serve as the forest fire warden, and Dave Ricard will be appointed as his assistant. This change is expected to improve coordination and management of equipment between the fire department and the state.
Zoning Administrator Retires; Road Maintenance Updates Provided
The zoning administrator, Nancy Morino, has retired after doing significant structural work to improve the role. The position needs to be filled. The planning commission had no report for the evening. The road foreman reported on ditching and stoning on Paul Rupert Mountain Road following recent heavy rains, and work on Red Top Road, which has not been addressed in years and is in poor condition. They are also addressing a beaver issue on Brimstone and planning to use material from Kelly the Cory, which is cost-effective.
Town Approves Payroll and Accounts Payable Warrants
The treasurer presented payroll and accounts payable warrants for approval. The payroll warrant is for $12,457.29, including overtime for highway employees. The accounts payable warrant totals $150,620.11. Quarterly financial reports closing out the fiscal year were distributed via email, with an offer to print them upon request. The treasurer will be out of office the following week.
Library Front Porch Roof Repair Approved for $3,250
The town is moving forward with repairs to the library's flat roof on the front porch for $3,250, which will be done by Red Builders. This repair will tie into ongoing work on the steps and painting of both buildings. The board also discussed the timing of this work in relation to the extended hearing schedule and the accessibility of the front door and ramp.
