San Benito Approves Emergency Manhole Repairs Using Flowable Fill Technology
The City Commission approved payment of $59,365 to Mago Development LLC for emergency repairs to a broken manhole at the northwest corner of Kilgore Drive and Business 77. Mago Development LLC was chosen for their use of flowable fill, which requires no mechanical compaction and flows easily into voids, providing complete and consistent support for the manhole. This method is considered superior to cement stabilization, which requires manual compaction and may not offer the same longevity. This was one of two bids provided to the Commission. The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Gonzalez and seconded by Mayor Pro Temp Navato, passing unanimously.

The San Benito Police Department's body camera and digital evidence management software platform will be upgraded with 29 additional user subscriptions from VersaTerm Public Safety United States Incorporated. This expansion will provide each officer with their own camera and subscription, replacing the current shared system. The system, which operates on a cell phone platform, uploads video directly to the cloud for security, includes features like live streaming, heat maps, playback tracking, and real-time GPS, enhancing officer safety and evidence management. The cost for these additional subscriptions is $19,140, which was budgeted for. The system has been in use for approximately three years with only minor software update issues.
