San Fernando City Council Certifies Election Results and Appoints New Mayor and Vice Mayor
The San Fernando City Council held its regular meeting on July 6th, 2026, beginning with roll call and the pledge of allegiance. Following a prayer, the agenda was approved. The meeting included proclamations and recognitions for outstanding community members. Public comment was opened, with several residents addressing the council on various city matters and expressing support for local artists and community initiatives. A key item was the adoption of Resolution Number 8469, which declared the results of the June 2nd, 2026, general municipal election. This resolution certified the election of Mary Mendoza, Mary Clorio, and Shaun M. Rivas as city council members for a four-year term. Following the election results, certificates of election and oaths of office were administered to the newly elected officials. The council then proceeded with the annual reorganization to select a mayor and vice mayor. Victoria Garcia was selected as the new Mayor, and Patty Lopez was selected as the new Vice Mayor. The meeting concluded with general city council comments and liaison updates, where council members expressed gratitude for their roles, highlighted achievements such as securing federal infrastructure funding, and thanked staff and community members. The meeting was adjourned at 7:22 PM.
