Seven Hills City Council Committee Meetings 06/30/26

Parks & EnvironmentInfrastructure

Andres Park Electrical Upgrades Approved for Next Agenda; AARP Grant Awarded

The committee discussed and approved moving forward with electrical work for Andres Park, also known as the park by the farmers market. The estimated cost is $131,037.04, with a maximum of $131,38. This work will update the park's electrical systems to support future planning, Christmas lighting, and general improvements, including lighting for military service flags and the U.S. flag. The project aims to improve the park's utility and benefit the adjacent farmers market. The committee also noted that $15,000 has been awarded from AARP towards Andres Memorial Park.

Budget & FinanceInstitutional

Fire Station Generator Replacement Approved as Emergency Purchase

The finance committee discussed the need for a new generator for the fire station due to the current one not working or working sporadically. Three quotes were obtained, but most generators had long lead times. Two vendors had generators in stock, and the recommended option is the lowest price. This generator is a 50,000-kilowatt unit and will not require replacing the automatic transfer switch (ATS) as it is operating appropriately. Approximately $43,000 from a $500,000 grant will cover part of the cost, leaving about $25,000 to be funded from fire station funds. This money needs to be used before July 31, 2026. The committee requested waiving the 24-hour rule to pass this as an emergency tonight.

Zoning And Land UseInfrastructure

7 Hills Boulevard Dedication and Lot Split Process Underway

The Planning, Zoning, and Economic Development committee discussed a two-part item concerning 7 Hills Boulevard. The first part involves the first reading for the dedication of a portion of 7 Hills Boulevard, which has been in use but never formally dedicated. The second part, which will be reviewed at the next Planning Commission meeting, concerns the lot split of a parcel into three. This lot split meets zoning requirements except for not being on a dedicated street. The dedication of the boulevard portion aims to rectify this and clean up an existing issue. The committee also noted a floor motion for a variance request that will be addressed after the committee meeting.
