2027 Budget Update Includes Increased Fuel Costs and New Administrative Hire
During council committee, city manager Paul Kramer updated the council on the 2027 budget, noting planned increases in fuel expenses for police, fire, and parks and recreation departments. The budget also includes funding for a new administrative assistant for the parks and recreation department.
City Council Authorizes Staff Action Following Executive Session
Following a 25-minute executive session, the city council authorized staff to proceed with strategies discussed and directed by the governing body. This decision was made on a seven to zero vote.
City Council Advances Annual Budget, Sets Public Hearing for Revenue Neutral Rate
The city council advanced the annual budget process by informing the county clerk of their intention to exceed the revenue neutral rate. The proposed rate is 23.267, and a public hearing for the revenue neutral rate has been scheduled for August 24th. These decisions do not officially set the mill levy for the upcoming budget year. Both votes passed unanimously with seven members in attendance.
Council Approves Engineering and Land Acquisition for 75th and Woodland Project
The city council approved engineering services for the permanent alignment of Woodland and its connection with 75th Street in the 75th and Woodland area. They also approved funding for the acquisition of right-of-way and easements for this project. Subsequent phases will include the construction of 75th Street from Monaceel to Woodland and the completion of Woodland, pending STBG funding.
