Belfont Council Appoints Members to Spring Creek WHED and Cog Public Safety Committees

Her concerns include the well-being and safety of the cats, suggesting they should be kept indoors or on leashes, and the unsanitary conditions caused by them using lawns and gardens as litter boxes. She referenced Belfont's ordinance 193-5 regarding cats at large and noise by cats, recommending pet owners read the ordinance and be aware of potential fines, emphasizing responsible pet ownership.
Belfont Secures $164,500 in Tourism Grants from Happy Valley Adventure Bureau
Councilwoman Claudia M. highlighted that Belfont received significant grant funding, totaling $164,500, from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau. These grants will benefit the borough and were awarded to various local initiatives including the art museum, craft fair, BHCA Civil War, MU library museum, Downtown Belfont Historic Cruise, arts and craft events, Victoria and Christmas events, America 250 celebration, and the Kepler pool.
Belfont Council Approves Potter Street Water Main Replacement Funding Application
The Belfont Borough Council approved the Potter Street water main replacement project for the 2026 CDBG program. Following this, the council motioned and seconded to approve the application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for FFY 2026 Community Development Block Grant entitlement funding for this water main replacement. The project aims to replace a leaking water main segment along South Potter Street, from near the intersection of South Thomas Street to the intersection with Hillary Street where it turns into Rupsburg Road, which is less than a mile long. This replacement is expected to provide higher quality service, reduce inflow and infiltration, and minimize leakages. The exact cost estimate is not yet available, but the CDBG award is anticipated to be around the amount needed for the project, with further details to be determined during the design phase. The location of the water main is understood to be directly under the road, with potential for some work in the shoulder area, which may allow for one-lane traffic or traffic controls during construction. A definitive plan for traffic control and potential street closures will be developed during the preliminary engineering and analysis phase. The project is considered a good candidate for CDBG funding and is expected to improve the dilapidated water main.
