Sturbridge Fire Department Appoints New Firefighter Personnel
David Tetrell was appointed as an on-call firefighter. David Petro was appointed as a part-time firefighter paramedic, effective July 7, 2026, with pay consistent with the agreement between the town and Teamsters Local 170. Ken Massaro was appointed as a part-time firefighter EMT, effective July 7, 2026, with pay consistent with the agreement between the town and Teamsters Local 170. Drew Wright was appointed as an on-call firefighter, effective July 7, 2026, with pay consistent with the agreement between the town and Teamsters Local 170.
Michael Jones Joins Sturbridge Special Events Committee
Michael Jones was appointed to the Special Events Committee for a term expiring July 6, 2028. Jones, who teaches English at Burgess and organizes tournaments, is expected to bring energy and community connections. He will be instrumental in organizing a fall pickleball tournament.
Aiden Adams Appointed New Town Planner for Sturbridge

Mr. McCabe expressed profound gratitude for the quick and professional response of a fire department crew who attended to his wife experiencing chest pains. The crew's rapid assessment, EKG, and decision to transport his wife to UMass Lakeside, which was better equipped for a suspected heart attack, resulted in no heart damage. He specifically commended Lieutenant Becker, firefighter J. Mark Coldy, and firefighter Az and Dana for their competence, professionalism, and calming demeanor.
