Youth Leaders Recognized for Community Improvement Initiatives

The Mayor recognized a group of young people from the Boys and Girls Club of Vernon who are participating in the 'Think, Learn, and Create Change' program. These young individuals have been identified as future leaders and have been working to address community issues such as a lack of pride, beautification, and apathy. They have implemented initiatives like 'Yard of the Week' and 'Neighborhood of the Month,' and have also developed a website to serve as a resource hub for the community. The group will be traveling to Washington D.C. to represent Vernon at the Summit for America's Youth and meet with Texas representatives to discuss their projects and needs. The Mayor expressed pride and excitement for their efforts and presented them with keys to the city in recognition of their dedication, passion, and possibilities.
