Vicksburg Board Authorizes Retention of Badges for Retiring Fire Department Officials
The board approved resolutions authorizing the retention of badges issued to retired Assistant Chief Timothy A. Love and Captain Melvin Doug Holman. Assistant Chief Love retired after 32 years of service, including being an assistant chief since 2010. Captain Holman served 22 years with the department, retiring on his hire date anniversary. Their badges will be presented to them in a shadow box.
Vicksburg Mayor Authorized to Execute Grant Extension for Highland Drive Project
The board authorized the mayor to execute a submission memo for a no-cost extension on project NR254423XXXC030-EWP, project 5328, located at 430 Highland Drive. This extension relates to the storm on March 15, 2025, and the approved extension date is November 15th. This follows the board's approval of an extension request letter on June 25th.
City of Vicksburg to Refund $6,805.98 for FEMA Project Overpayment
The board approved a refund request of $6,805.98 to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) concerning an overpayment of FEMA-4538-DR-MS project funds. The overpayment occurred because the initial payment was issued before all project costs were finalized and closed out.
Vicksburg Fire Department Lowers Captain Rank Testing Requirements to Increase Candidate Pool
The Vicksburg Fire Department is revising its Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG) regarding minimum qualifications to test for Captain rank. Previously, candidates needed Fire Officer Level 1 and 2 certifications to test. The revision allows candidates to test with Fire Officer Level 1 and complete Level 2 within one year of promotion.
Vicksburg Fire Department Adopts Revised Organizational Chart
The board approved the Vicksburg Fire Department organizational chart. This revision aligns with the new job description for Chief of Fire Prevention, creating a dedicated division under this role, which will report to the Associate Chief.
