Waverly Receives Grants for Park Improvements and Community Gardens
The city has received three grants: $2,500 from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa for limestone blocks at Cedar River Park to create a barrier between the parking lot and the inclusive playground; $2,000 from the same foundation for improved power at the south end of Coleman Park, primarily for Santa's House; and $1,000 from Poet Bioprocessing (Shell Rock) for new single raised garden beds in the Northwest Community Gardens.

Waverly Approves Fee Schedule for Sewer Line Repairs Funded by State Revolving Fund
The City Council approved Resolution 26-149, approving an SCI Concrete and Excavation fee schedule for sewer line repairs. The funding for these repairs will come from SRF (State Revolving Fund) funding, specifically IUP into CIP fund 362.
Waverly Council Approves Continuation of Welcome Home Community Marketing Plan
The City Council passed Resolution 26-144, approving marketing recommendations and a contract with Ambridge Marketing for the continuation of the Waverly Welcome Home Community Marketing Plan for fiscal year 2027. The plan, utilizing budgeted hotel-motel tax revenues, involves a $50,000 investment. Key updates for this year include conducting research with the target audience to evaluate marketing resonance over the past five years, developing updated messaging, and ensuring the Waverly Welcome Home website is ADA compliant by April 2028. The plan also includes updating the website to meet accessibility standards.
Citizen Thanks Council for Service, Suggests Pickleball Courts
A citizen expressed gratitude to the city council members for their time, effort, and dedication to their roles, acknowledging that their work is often thankless but necessary and important for the community. The citizen suggested the possibility of pickleball courts and offered to lead fundraising efforts.
