Mauricisco Taco El Salvon Granted Liquor License Upon Relocation
Mauricisco Taco El Salvon has been granted an on-sale wine and 3.2 intoxicating liquor license as they relocate their business to Highway 12 near Home State Bank. Previously, the business operated without a liquor license.
Sanitary Sewer Lining Project Awarded to Subsurface Incorporated
The council awarded a contract for the sanitary sewer lining project on Becker Avenue and old Highway 12 to Subsurface Incorporated for $67,498.50. This trenchless rehabilitation method will install a resin liner inside the existing pipes to repair significant root intrusion, failing clay pipe, and groundwater infiltration, extending the pipe lifespan by 50 years. The project will be funded from the wastewater collections operating budget.
Christopher Frank Appointed Director of Planning and Development
The city council approved the hiring of Christopher Frank as the new Director for Planning and Development. The selection process involved reviewing eight applications, interviewing three candidates, and a final selection by an interview panel. Frank's new role comes with a salary range of $102,000 to $138,000.
Police Department to Purchase Used Command Center/SWAT Bus
The City Council approved the purchase of a used 2022 Starcraft Starlight 24T bus on a Freightliner Sprinter chassis for $53,574, plus $1,062 for delivery, totaling $54,636. This vehicle will serve as a command center and SWAT bus, replacing a 1999 Ford El Dorado. The bus has 74,746 miles and was previously a lease unit. The purchase was deemed more cost-effective than a new model, allowing the department to still acquire two squad cars.
Eagle Lake Sewer Lift Stations to Receive Control Panel and SCADA System Upgrades
The council approved the preliminary budget of $400,000 for upgrades to the Eagle Lake sewer lift stations 1, 3, and 4. This project involves updating control panels and improving the SCADA system to enhance monitoring and communication capabilities for city staff. The funding will come from the 2026 bond issuance.
