City Approves Professional Services Agreement with Spatial Data Logic LLC for Software Upgrades
The council approved a resolution authorizing the execution of a professional services agreement with Spatial Data Logic LLC for software services. The finance director explained that the city has not had new finance software since 2005, leading to inefficiencies like budget management in Excel and manual data imports. This new software, Spatial Data Logic (SDL), is for the clerk's office, allowing online processing of licenses (business, alcohol, liquor) and enabling building and zoning permits to be handled online. SDL is a preferred partner with SSI, ensuring seamless integration.
Software Solutions Inc. Agreement Approved for Integrated Accounting and Utility Billing
The council approved a resolution authorizing the execution of a professional services agreement with Software Solutions Incorporated (SSI) for accounting and utility billing software services. The finance director explained that SSI is the core accounting software, which will now integrate with utility billing, making it more efficient than the current separate system. This system also includes payroll services through a preferred partner, Wright Stuff. It allows for view-only access for department heads and auditors, scanning of invoices and checks, and is expected to be more efficient and cost-effective than the current system.
Parcel Rezoned from R1 Single-Family to B3 Highway Business for Potential Hotel Development
The council approved an ordinance to rezone a parcel (IDE 191082400003.002) from R1 single-family to B3 highway business district. This change was recommended by the Plan Commission. The owner requested the rezoning to facilitate a potential hotel development.
Labor Day Parade Route Approved for August 29th
The council approved a request from the Greater Madison County Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO, to hold their annual Labor Day Parade. The parade is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, starting at 10 a.m. The route will be along Woodriver Avenue from the Roundhouse to East Ferguson, then north on 6th Street, ending at Emerick Sports Complex.
