Civic Center Commission Rescinds PWD Funding, Approves HVAC Repairs and Infrastructure Upgrades

The Civic Center Commission approved a motion to resend a prior approval of $450,000 for the purchase of a portable weapons detection system (PWDs). The PWDs were reclassified as an operational expense rather than a capital expense, and the purchase will be made through Legends' operational budget. This decision effectively returns the $450,000 to the capital budget for reallocation to other necessary expenses. The commission also approved a revised request of $250,000 for HVAC repairs, an increase from the initial $200,000 estimate. Additionally, $30,000 was approved for the replacement of two glass panes in the convention center. A significant change order of $500,000 was approved for electrical conduit relocation for the arena structural rigging grid, addressing conflicts that arose during the project and aiming to maintain the August 31st completion deadline.
