Council Honors State Wrestling Champion Kylie Tibs, Discusses Community Events and Tech Center Project
The City Council discussed the 250th-anniversary celebrations, including the fireworks and parade. A resolution and proclamation were presented honoring Kylie Tibs, a GLHS junior, for winning her second consecutive state wrestling championship title. Tibs achieved a 44-2 record in the 2025-2026 season, defeated nine top-10 ranked wrestlers, and led her team to a fifth-place state finish and their first OC championship. She was named OC Wrestler of the Year and Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association Wrestler of the Year. Academically, she maintains a 3.5 GPA or higher. Tibs also represented GLHS and Ghana in national and international competitions, including training in Italy and competing in Fargo, North Dakota. The council also heard from a resident, Tim McClur, who praised the pledge of allegiance, fireworks, and community event organization but questioned the delays and shoddy work on the tech center's electrical system, and inquired about plans for old buildings and parking lot removal at the sanctuary.
